Doughnut French Toast

This is a quick breakfast idea that combines both French toast and the lovely taste of doughnuts. My kids seem to be hooked on it and for my fussy 6 year old, who doesn't touch eggs, it's a great way to get a bit of extra protein into her. Great for a relaxing Sunday morning breakfast. Well, relaxing for everyone else. I eat mine while I'm cooking everyone elses!

Doughnut French Toast

sliced bread
3 eggs (this does about 12 slices of bread)
1 cup milk
1 tsp ground cinnamon
butter for frying bread
icing sugar to serve

Beat eggs, cinnamon and milk together in a dish that bread can be dipped into. Fry a knob of butter in a frypan over medium heat. Dip the slice of bread into the egg/milk mixture, coating both sides and scrape off any excess on the side of the dish. Fry in melted butter until golden on each side. Allow to cool slightly and then sprinkle with icing sugar. Repeat for each slice of bread.

Can be served with maple or golden syrup, fresh strawberries (or other berries) or a side of crispy bacon.
