Pinning & Singing - Christmas wrapping & tagging

I remember the days when I'd select just the right Christmas gift wrap. Carefully wrap the gifts and adorn them with colour coded, matching gift tags. I'd even go to the effort of stamping my own paper sometimes and getting all artsy craftsy about it. The last couple of Christmases, since the kids came along, has usually been an all night affair on Christmas Eve, digging out the 5 metre rolls of Christmas wrap I bought on sale last Christmas and finding some ghastly Christmas sticker to stick on the present and you barely have enough room on them to write "to" and "from".

In my day (here we go), we didn't have Santa sacks or stockings but a couple of nicely wrapped presents marked to "Anne" from "Santa" in my mother's handwriting (I didn't realise at the time, obviously) but she still marks a present like that for me still to this day. I sometimes feel motivated to have a lovingly styled Christmas tree with beautifully wrapped presents but instead, I'll settle for a Christmas tree with handmade decorations made by the kids and a stack of randomly wrapped presents in whatever gift wrap I can find, but maybe I might find the time for some of these gift wraps and gift tags.

I've been forgetting to add a song and even though I've been pinning Christmas things these last couple of weeks, I just couldn't bring myself to adding a Christmas song to my blog post so early but this week I succumbed. Although I love all the traditional Christmas carols, this is my favourite song from the modern era from Chris Rea, "Driving Home for Christmas".

  1. All awesome but I especially love the first vintage tags from girl thursday and think I would enjoy wrapping the gifts with that rainbow of coloured yarn - simple but high impact!

  3. Beautiful pins. These make me look slack too. I always plan to wrap the gifts and add home-made tags but in reality, I'm wrapping late into the night on Christmas Eve and sticking on those crappy gift labels. Thanks for linking up! x

  4. Great wrapping idea! I love all the ways to use yarn but when it comes right down to doing the actual wrapping, I am usually too rushed to do anything fancy!

  5. Oh the kids here have made wrapping paper too. Always good to run a craft you don't have to keep.

  6. I love all these styles of wraps! I would love to have time to make some like them, I just know that I'll be wrapping with pretty wrapping and then tying ribbons around them all!
I would love to make the tags this year though! Thats on my to-do list

  7. I dream of beautifully wrapped presents but the reality is so very different.

I ran out of paper last year for the very last present and ended up wrapping it in tin foil!

  8. These are all lovely ideas! But I can see myself doing what I do every year....getting out my bargain wrapping paper, my dodgy gift tags and having the same ramshackle Christmas I always have!

  11. I'm still Smiling at your candid Post... because each year I vow to be Creative and Inventive about my Gift Wrapping... and sometimes I even succeed. *Winks*

This year due to budget constraints necessity will be the Mother of Invention... oh, and a few stolen... ummmm, I mean borrowed... ideas inspired by The Land Of Blog & Pinterest! *LOL* Yep, I'm TOTALLY now stealing that idea of the plain brown paper (ie: Grocery Bag repurposing} and assorted colors of yarn... how simple yet beautiful & thrifty! Whoever thought of that was pure genius & I thank them {and you for sharing it in this Post} this year from the bottom of my Heart! *Smiles*

Oh, and speaking of Nostalgic reminiscing that my G-Kids HATE to hear *winks*... our Stockings always held Fresh Fruit & uncracked Nuts and we were absolutely delighted with that since Nutcracking was such fun and fresh Fruit a luxury just a few times a year! How spoiled we have now become...

  13. Those people that had time to do those either don't have kids, or their kids are punching each other in the face and chasing the cat whilst mommy crafts ( and drinks a hefty glass of Pinot). :)
Nah... just kidding. They are cute.
